Quite mad

This is about my friend Luis, a guy I thought I knew.
We know this couple, he's a friend of him, I'm not a friend of any of them, which (I think), gives some credit to my opinion.
She was married and had an affair with him. He was really young, but not that young: 17. She got separated from the husband, and kept going alone.
Now I was wondering why this guy, the father of the young girl, never showed around, not even now, that he's a grown up (26). It turns out, he's too busy dating 14 year old girls.
And my friend thinks that is alright.
And that's my problem. I'm sick and tired of watching guys not taking resposability for thier children. Man! So you are old enough to make it but not to take care of it? That sucks. Why is it that women (most of the times) have to carry on with the whole thing? Shouldn't it be sth to split?
And let's think about the child. How awful do you think he or she feels when he or she knows dad didn't want to have anything to do with him or her?
There's absolutely no excuse. If you have a child, you have to take care of it. Sorry, that's the rule.
And my friend wants to tell me the other guy was too young and she was a bitch. Well, he was young, was she a bitch? I don't know. Maybe. But she has been taking care of the girl for like 10 years now.
And it really hurt to know my friend and I have such a different point of view on sth that is so basic, so important. It's like... how can anyone think different on this one?
Yeah, it probably sound like I don't give the other the chance to have his/her own mind on this. But God, we are talking about a child and his parents here.

I ain't happy

I'm not sad either, I'm just upset.
He told me not to "act like that" I pretty much think I coud have told him just the same.
Luis said: "don't get mad with the guy that sent you flowers". I say his time appart from computers is time appart from me too, or is he going to call me? I don't think so.
I'm really upset.

soon.. working time

Well, I finally chose the classes for this year. I got exactely what I wanted, and I can tell I'm happy about it. I'll be teaching 4 second grades in the mornings, and 2 second grades and 2 first grades in the afternoons. Different schools, but I'm happy about the desition I took, cos I had to leae one out, and I wanted to work there too, but I think I did right.
So I kinda know what my year is gonna be like. Hopefully I'll be doing sth different maybe, but we still have to wait. I'm still optimistic about it, but I just wanna wait and see :-)

The other day I saw the uncle of one of my ex-students. A girl that studied with me for 2 years. He told me she was complaining cos she knew i wasn't gonna be her teacher this year (cos I told them so when last year finishsed). What can I say? That made me happy!!! :-D Let's hope this year I can work comfortable and give my studetns a good impresion again.

nothing special

It was just another hot day here.

Despite what you may think after reading me, I got a nice score on my TOEFL, even in the TWE. I wonder if someone knows what those mean. I remember reading those and they had no meaning for me. Now I'm able to use it :-P But the good part is the score part. I got 633/677, and 5/6. I hope this helps me on my goal. I hope that was exactely what I was missing, cos now I have it :-) In the past, when I was studying for them, I thought they were like crusial. That they were the ONLY thing I needed, and I was stressed out (just a little bit) about those scores. Then after some reading, writing and practice tests, I got to the concution this was just another step, but maybe it wasn't even the most important of all. I had to take that step anyway, and now that is done... I just hope they help me get to the place I wanna go.
I love when Al say sth and I can tell he just picture us there.

Tomorrow I'll be choosing the rest of the classes I'll be teaching next year.
Yesterday I was lucky enough to get exactely what I wanted at UTU: 4 groups of 2nd grade. They even gave me my schedule, and it's not even so bad.
Now tomorrow I will choose more 2nd or 1st grade (money desition, those are the most convenient of all), the thing is... I still don't know why school is best. I have ready the list of advantages and disadvantages, and the truth is... I just want to go to this place regardless of that list.
I won't stress out thinking about it, I'll decide tomorrow, in front of the computer, when someone asks me "what is it gonna be Paula?"

And I kept working on my blog and my friend D's blog, with the pics of her trip to Salamanca. I guess it would be stupid to say I'm getting better at it, cos all of you, blog ppl of the world know how to do it. But I'm learning, and I'm happy about it. Probably even more happy cos no one is teaching me :-P

My friend made a comment about how slow was the post office from Uruguay to Spain. And it was such a stupid thing to say, that I had to correct it right away. The delivery time of mail depends on both offices, and there's no way we can tellwhich one is the slow one. And the letter got there later: the woman who owns the place where she lives had forgotten to take the mail in.

See you tomorrow, after I became teacher of another 160 students.

learning

I finally have a different template, had to taught myself how to do this, and maybe if I spend a little more time readong those codes.. maybeone day I might be able to write my own :-P
Truth is though, this isn¿t the one I wnted. I have it 50% figured out though, a little more studying and soon I'll have it.
I absolutely should try and add links now, shouldn't I? ;-)

one more

I know they may all look the same. It's worth it though.

touchy

From 3 different newspapers. Believe me, this is a good reason for you to go and learn spanish.

what a life

I witness sth historical last 15th of feb. That was the reason why I went to Montevideo, and I know language here is not gonna let me express what I really want. I know even if I write in spanish I'll have the same problem.
Mujica took the vow to the rest of the senators, and he was taken it by Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro. Both of them tupamaros, both of them were in jail during dicatorship, they were tortured, and they were kept as hostage by the militaries. I read the book written by Fernández Huidobro, and man, I never thought urugayan men could have done to other uruguayan men.
The squad that put Mujica in jail, was Batallón Florida, and now they were inspected by Mujica. Right after doing it, he said part to himself and to Huidobro, and part to all of us waiting outside: "what a life we had"
I was first in line, I'm so happy to have been there to see that. To see that man being respected by those who once privated him from his freedom and human rights. He's the president of senators chamber, and Huidobro is vice-president, and if this is not enough for the rest of thw world as a proove that we are moving forward (finally), the president of diputados chamber is a tupamara, a woman from the same movement, who was also in jain during the dark years.
It was a party for us, the uruguaya ppl.
I have no words to describe it, and I knew this was gonna happen. I should have tryed to do this right after being there. It was gonna be a long post probably, but it was gonna be a touchy one too :-)
I took a million pics, soon I'll have them developed for all of us too see :-)

gave up on templates

I know it's not sth complicated, but Ijust can't figure it out. I went to this site, and THE template I want. The site was even promoted here, in blogger.com, so I figured "it can't be that hard". I knew I just had to coy a code and then paste it, and I knew where to paste it, so I was happy. Then I had this great one, and it said: you just cipy the code, and then paste it to your template. But I just didn't find anything to copy or paste. I downloaded it, like it said I had to, but nothing was very different. I asked for help: Ana, Al and Luis, no one knew what to do either. And one of them is suppose to be a programmer and other soon will be a computer engineer. So I won't feel really bad about not being able, and I will wait till someone offer help, I know that day that person will do it for me easily, I'll earn, and I won't have to think about it anymore :-P

Today I developed the film with pics from dec 31st till now. It was a good one. Lots of pic of my family celebrating: new year's eve, new year's day, my brother bd, me with friends... I like it. I hope I can scan some soon to pose here and in my flog.

Other than that....
Tomorrow I have the last test. I also expect to go to Montevideo to see the change in parlament. I'll do that with Lore, and I hope I get to see Luis one of these days too. I really hope this time I get good weather so I can go to the beach, cos last time sucked. And then I guess I'll be back on sun.

Oh, and today I bought what Al told me is a "lab coat", or a "cover-all coat". It's a white things primary school teachers wear. I wanted one so my clothes don't get so messy while I teach. I work with black boards, and those means chalk, and chalk can be really messy.
And then last: I think I will be able to choose whatever classes I wanna teach next year. I saw Ignacio today (another young math teacher), and I think there shoudn't be a problem. I wasn't really worried worried about it, but it's nice to slowly know things are the same, and I'll get to have the same pay check I had last year. I always thought that coud be fixed, but it's nice to do it without having to "fix" it.

moods and stuff

Yestarday I had the chance to talk to my love about my friend's behavior.
I don't think he totally back me up on that one, but I saw he tryed hard to understand me, and I totally noticed he tryed not to hurt me. He was really sweet, so as a result, I can say he really was really really sweet to me, and made me feel better than i was feeling.

And now talking about feeling better...
I don't think that mood thing is working like it should. I'm suppose to just paste the code once, so you can read about my mood on one part of this blog. And when I cahnge it onthe main site, then it changes here too. But I don't know where to paste the code, cos right now I made an entry, but it's going to disappear as long as I keep writing here. I'll see if I can change that.

And as yesterday, I'm not talking to D. I thin if I do it now I'm gonna say things she probably doesn't wanna hear right now. And I'll probably will do it out of the blue, so I'll shoud wait till I feel good, and then if she makes another comment, then I can slap :-P
Funny thing: my mom mailed today a letter I wrote before getting mad at her :-P

And that's it I think.

right now!

I felt like I had to write this, maybe as a reminder to myself after watching my friend d's behavior.

I don't want to go away from my country and then start thinking the perons were wrong here, and then that's the reason for me to start doing things I always wanted but never did. I know I wanna do different stuff here, but the truth is... the problem is not them, it's me. It's me who needs to be away from them in order to feel I can do it. She told me now she could wear weird stuff cos now the ppl about bla bla bla. Made me feel bad, I thought it was gonna be diferent with her. The yesterday she made a comment abut 3rd word connection to internet. She then wanted to make it look like a joke, but then when I pointed it out to her, I said: "you can't say that" she said: "you are right, cos after all i hve to come back". How lame is that?! And right now she was teling me about the stuff she's buying on shops, and then she said the clothes she's buying now are not "street markent clothes". Again I pointed out how that sounded bad, and she said she ment sth different than I understood.
I won't argue with her about that stuff. I really hope I don't act like that myself if I ever have the chance to be whee I wanna be (which is not Europe anyway). And I hope sth else: I hope she's not a different person by the time she gets back. Some ppl I know thought she was that kind of person that is always talking and thnking aobut herselt, self-involved. She sometimes said she was sort of like that, but I guess it wasnt too bad, cos I liked her, she's my best friend. But I hope she stays the same, and I don't know if she's not changing already.

Thursday, February 10, 2005

I'm glad I didn't come back yesterday to keep writing.
Things go out of control sometimes, and there's no one to blame really.
I could say it's his fault, he could say it's mine. In the end, I guess what he actually said we'll work better: it was both our fault.
And I'm glad we found a way to talk about the problems (like the REM song).

Al called me yesterday, and he was really cute and sweet. It was so nice hearing his voice again. He was tired too. He had had long days studying for spanish. Now that's over, but he has to turn his head to the robot now. At least this is his last semester, sth I bet he remembers everynight, and sth I do remember often too.
He told me he missed me, and that he wanted to see me, that he was waiting to see me. That was so cute. I wasn't expecting it, and it made me feel really happy.

Then later last night we went through the whole Spain thing again. I don't have that totaly under control yet. If I had to say why it bothers me, I don't even have a good asnwer. I coud say I'm scared about other girls. But I'm not so dumb: our situation then it's not gonna be that far different from what it is now. I could say I wish I coud be there with him, but I know that's sth I can't control at all. And I cud say I wish he was spending all thatmoney to come here, that he would hav chosen me insted of that. I have nothing better to say to that, maybe that's what it is. I know I want him to do things that make him happy and also that educate him in different aspects. It's not just aobut to go to class, I know that so well. And it's great he has the chance to go and see different places and experience different ppl. I also know Spain is not such an educating experience, but maybe he will never know that anyway, and maye he can rescue sth from the history, the old one, cos we know the present has no much to offer there anyway.
The thing was we could go through it anyway, and we ended on a nice conversation, laughing. So I went to bed happy, and I'm still happy today :-D

Changing subject now....
I wanted to go to Montevideo on 15th so hear Mujica taing jurament to the rest of the guys working for our country now. But I have a test that day too. It's so unfair, cos I don't even have students that day, and I have to be there with the 2 laziest teachers I have ever worked with. man, thos ladies are aweful. Both of them just sit there,a nd let the rest do their job. And this time, I don't even have to be there, cos it's just tieir students! So I'll be missing an historical thing for being there covering their asses. I'm not sure yet, i shoud find a way to scape.

And now to say goodbye.. Finally Gerardo got a job. Looks like it's a nice one, on the same place he got one last time, but just answering the phone to guests (it's a resort), giving them info. They told him maybe soon he'll take care of a cyber place they are about to open. I think he shoud be happy if he keeps the job he has now anyway :-)

Finally... goodbye :-)

another beach time is over.

It's getting time to start thinking about school.

I had a good time this summer, I can't complain. I kept myself going and comming fromthe beach, but not in a way that reminds to a job. I had fun, and I'm more relaxed and happier than in the past.

Things didn't work out the way I wanted between Loreadana and Luis. My friends will remain to me just like that. I should have known it, I won't try ever again, it's not my job. I probably suck at it. But it was a fun night anyway. Then Lore and I went to movies to see "Hide and seek", and that was another good time for me. I really liiked the movie, didn't knowhow it was gonna end till it ended :-P
No beach for me this time though: we had aweful weather. But I got to share some time with relatives and it was good, better than I could have pictured it.

Now I'm back.

I went to a test today,a nd it went by fast. I got there late anyway, but I'm always first to show up, and I always have a buch of exercices ready to go, so this time I thought it was time for them to work a little, no? Next 15th is gonnabe the same. i have to go there and work withthe 2 laziest teachers I had evern worked with. But I had no students that time, all of them are theirs. So I'll have to try and make sure they do their job.

And right now I wonder why Al woud never accept my help to study spanish. He can give me a thousand excuses, but I will never know it for sure. According to him, he never has the time, and whatever I can offer is not gonna work for him and his tests. Sounds kinda stupid. I mean, Spanish is my native language, and I can write nicely, let's not forger I'm a teacher. Does he think he will learn spanish from gallegos? :-P I just wanted to know why he never wanted my help, but he would just get mad and say it's a "girl-thing". I don't even know what that means in here.
Well, I know one thing: I can't make him accept it.

back to work

That's february like. You are all happy laying on the beach, and then suddenly you remember you have to take some tests. I have 5 tests this feb, and have already attended to 2. I don't like it. Teachers are sort of paranoid, and they talk about all the things that can go wring next year. What classes are we gonna teach, where, how, will there be enough hours for all of us, stuff like that. Also, feb is already short, and this tests make it worse. I had a nice vaction time, I don't even wanna think about school already.

Well, so that's about it today. Not too bad though :-)
